About Me
Debbie Enever
Biography
Debbie was born in 1969 but as the 90s were a bit of a chemical haze, considers herself to be still in her forties.
She spent most of her early working life in the voluntary sector fundraising and running projects to support disabled people’s groups. Latterly her role involved supporting disabled university students to access support.
Debbie has recently been appointed as Programme Administrator for Under the Stars, a local arts and events charity for people with learning disabilities.
Anecdotes
Debbie has always been a writer. She just never had any real interest in publication, preferring to treat writing as something fun. In 2015 she decided to put some effort into things and joined a local Creative Writing course. The course led to her writing and performing at a couple of small spoken word events, and the establishment of a writing support group. The group still meets regularly and offers members the opportunity to submit work for feedback.
When Dan died in 2018, Debbie’s world fell apart. To try to fill it with something positive she enrolled on the MA Creative Writing and began to work on what would become Midowed. She also started her blog as a way of expressing herself as she navigated the world as a parent bereaved of her only child.
Midowed ‘is the nearest thing you’ll get to walking in my shoes’ says Debbie. It’s immersive and raw, as the reader follows her story through the first year of loss. To add light to this darkness, Debbie also takes us on a journey through Dan’s fifteen years of life; a life full to bursting of adventure, fun, and love.
